Simple Homemade Organic Dog Cookies

February 9, 2016 by Jennifer 3 Comments

If you’re anything like us, your first baby was furry and four legged, and not the two legged terrors that run your house now. Gibson is the name of our first baby, and we have always wanted the best for him, including what he ate. (This post contains affiliate links.)

When Gibson was a puppy, he had to have double hip surgery before he was even one. Because of that, we’ve always had to watch his diet. We stay away from human food (except for the occasional carrot), and give him very few treats.

These homemade organic dog cookies are perfect because not only are they healthy. You know exactly what’s going in them. You can make them as big or as little as you want depending on your dog’s size. And I have yet to meet a dog that can resist peanut butter!

I found these really cute little bone and fire hydrant shaped cookie cutters that are the perfect size. Heads up, if you do use the little cookie cutters, this recipe makes a TON! A lot of times I’ll half it and still get a couple months worth.

We also make them a lot as great Christmas presents for our furry loving friends. They’re just so cute and easy!

How to Make Homemade Organic Dog Cookies

2. Form into a big ball
3. Roll out flat with a rolling pin

4. Use cookie cutters to make fun shapes, or just use a pizza cutter to make squares

5. Lay on a cookie sheet
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes

These are great dog cookies. Makes a ton. I would suggest freezing half, after baking, so they don't go bad. I use the pizza cutter method and it makes A LOT fast!

I really do need to start making these. Every time Poppy comes home with another box of store-bought dog cookies I worry about what weird ingredient is in there this time. (I try to stay away from the fear-mongering news, but there really is a lot of evidence out there of nasty crap that finds it's way into dog biscuits!) Love seeing those little hands rolling and cutting these out!
