The Best Homemade Bloody Mary Recipe – Better Than a Restaurant

February 3, 2016 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

People are always asking what my secret is to making a delicious homemade Bloody Mary. While there is no “real” recipe, you can start by following the instructions below, and then add more of everything depending on your taste. My personal taste goes by the color… the darker red the Bloody Mary, the better. I’m talking practically brown!

You need this homemade Bloody Mary at your next brunch!

It may sound strange, but the two most important ingredients (that I won’t even make a Bloody Mary if I don’t have) are Worcestershire and horseradish. Yes, the vodka’s pretty important… but to be honest if the mix is made right I’m sometimes just as happy to have it virgin!

How to Make The Best Homemade Bloody Mary

Ingredients

  • Celery SaltBloody Mary
  • Black Pepper
  • Worcester
  • Tabasco
  • Horseradish
  • Sriracha (optional)
  • Tomato Juice
  • Olives
  • Cocktail Onions
  • Pickled Asparagus
  • Celery
  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Candied Bacon (optional but highly recommended)

Candied Bacon

Directions

  1. Fill a pint glass with ice
  2. Shake about 6 shakers of celery salt
  3. Sprinkle about 4 shakes of pepper
  4. Shake about 5 dashes of Tabasco
  5. Shake about 9 shakes of Worcestershire
  6. Dollop half a tablespoon of horseradish
  7. Optional – one squirt of Sriracha
  8. Pour 2 oz vodka
  9. Fill the rest with tomato juice
  10. Either shake or stir, your choice
  11. Garnish with a lime wedge, lemon wedge, cocktail onion, olive, pickled asparagus, and celery stalk
  12. Optional – add a strip of thick cut candied pepper bacon (lay bacon out on a baking sheet, cover both sides with jalapeno jelly, bake at 420° for 15-20 minutes)

Voila!
